Where We Stand

Updated: Dec 31, 2020

We founded Genesis Health Consulting with the conviction that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Every child. No exceptions.

It is a destructive failing of our society that children are born into a world that does not cultivate and protect opportunities for all. However, the barriers and inequities that limit the potential of so many of our children are made by adults. They are changeable if we have the courage to learn, grow, and adapt. Together, we have the creativity to see what could be and build toward that better future. The team at Genesis Health Consulting feels compelled to do this work; to stand with the change agents around the nation who are working to improve opportunities for children in hundreds of ways, in thousands of communities.

We want to be clear about where we stand. We stand with the Black Lives Matter movement, and the fight for safety and justice for all black, indigenous and people of color. We stand for the safety and equality of all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and asexual people. We stand for the equality and inclusivity of people with physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities. We stand with all marginalized and disenfranchised people who experience prejudice because of unjust and unequal systems and power structures.

Our commitment is to stand with all those fighting for a more equitable and just world. But our accountability is to make sure we do not just stand in place. We are accountable to help move change forward. Clients who work with Genesis can have confidence they are enlisting a firm that intentionally brings an equity lens to all of our work.

We do this by:

  • Seeking out vendors, sub-contractors and professional support from women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA professionals.

  • Facilitating change by intentionally introducing new perspectives on traditional norms and systems, leading clients through critical design evaluation and improvement exercises.

  • Intentionally inviting and supporting participation in committees, grants, policy design and strategy dialogue by individuals with diverse, lived experiences.

  • Committing to at least one pro-bono engagement per year with community-level change agents.

  • Continually searching for new ways to increase equity through the work of our company, and challenging our personal limitations and understanding of systemic abuses of power.
